As with most websites, data is collected from this website for analysis, to help me with marketing, advertising and to help my website be more accessible to everyone.
The data collected will not be sold or disclosed to anyone other than myself. My visitor’s privacy is very important to me, and I will not breach that trust for anything.
The data I analyze consists of three parts. These are;
Country of origin.
URL visitor came from.
URL visitor landed on.
Country of origin speaks for itself. Not everybody speaks English so in finding out the most popular non English speaking visitors is important as I am in the process of having my website available in as many languages as is possible. I want everyone to enjoy my website to the fullest, as everyone is welcome to visit me here and I do not see why non English speaking visitors should have to decipher what I say by themselves.
URL the visitor came from is probably the most important piece of data I collect. This lets me know where my visitors found my link, which is very important because it helps me see where and how I need to promote and advertise my website further.
The final piece of data tells me where in my website the visitors landed on. All this tells me is whether the visitor used a direct bookmark to my site or not.
Recently I found out that Google rates my homepage 1 out of ten. Not a bad rank seeing that at the time of going to press, this site has had only 24460 hits and other websites with more hits not even getting ranked. Something I am proud of immensely. This is why the data is so important, it helps me see where visitors are coming from, the page rank is calculated by how many links lead to your site etc; the more links to the site the higher the ranking. There are other factors to take into consideration such as site content, popularity etcetera. Hence my new found interest in visitor activity.
All data is stored on an offline hard drive to ensure maximum security.
